The Dead World
It was supposed to be an uneventful trip back to Amorphonon 12, but of course something had to go wrong. Your ship has crashed on an arid world, amidst the remains of a once-great civilisation. What happened to them? Not that it really matters. The rescue ship will be here in 3 days, so there is no need to explore the ruins. I mean, something might happen to you...
The sixth episode in Ulysses Ai's series is now ready for online play. |

A Midwinter Carol
I've made an online version of Kieran Coghlan's festive gamebook.
Tomorrow is the 14th of Snow's Cloak, the Midwinter Festival and all Arion is preparing for the festivities. All that is except you - Ethelred Samiar, the Baron Den Snau. You have no time for the present giving and "good will to all men" that this sanctimonious holiday demands. No, you have great plans for tomorrow. The Love of Libra Orphanage has failed to pay back the money you lent them and you're going to have the place closed down tomorrow... |

From The Shadows
Another addition to the downloads page. This gamebook is unusual in that it does not have a single author, but is a collaboration. Contributors are listed as "Sylas, Cobb Webb, Al sander, Khaxzan, Odo_ital, Archmage". It is edited by Victor Cheng (author of In The Footsteps Of A Hero). |

Legacy Of Enoch
The downloads page now includes this Elizabethan adventure by Ramsay Duff. It will apparently be the last he writes for some time. |

Tomb Of The Ancients
It's been a while, but now there is another gamebook to play. This one is written by Stuart Lloyd. Another by the same author will follow reasonably soon.
So after five years, you tell your parents that you are leaving to be an adventurer and have a better life. Your mother is distraught, but your father barely bats an eyelid. You tell him that you are going to seek the medallion of his ancestors. At the mention of it, he becomes livid "Listen you worm! If you go looking for that, you'd better never come back, because I swear I will kill you!" |

Sharkbait's Revenge
Stuart Lloyd's Windhammer 2010 competition-winning gamebook is now ready for online play.
The ship is now sinking fast. The rest of the crew are on the lifeboats heading to the island. You notice that they haven't left you one. They see you as responsible for causing this disaster and if they catch you on the island they will probably skin you alive. However, the island is the only escape you've got... |

A Strange Week For King Melchion The Despicable
Another gamebook ready for online play.
In the magical land of Generica, a wondrous region ruled by the harsh and not particularly fair King Melchion the Despicable, you are Davor, a humble wizard trying to make his way in life. Usually you spend your time ridding cellars of rats or casting love enchantments for pimply teens. But today you are to be hired by a client with a very different problem indeed.
This is Kieran Coghlan's entry to this year's Windhammer competition. If you want to know what Stuart Lloyd thinks of it then go here : http://virtualfantasies.blogspot.com/2011/11/windhammer-competition-review-part-3.html. It's probably best to play it first though. |

Gamebooks To Download
Two more additions to the downloads page :
Grisly Death by Stacey Paulson, a murder mystery set in London. Gem Runner by Simon Chapman. An earlier version of this was an entry in the recent Windhammer competition.
Thanks very much to the authors for submitting them. |

The Word Fell Silent
Kieran Coghlan's biblical gamebook is now ready.
Judea groans under the rule of the Roman Empire, its king, Herod Agrippa II, nothing more than a puppet for the Roman governor. Some demand action against the Romans, others believe it a mistake to antagonise their masters. And there is turmoil between the different Jewish sects and with the new religion that has grown recently, spreading throughout the Roman World and threatening the Jewish faith: Christianity.
Like the other three gamebooks added recently, it has multiple paths to success. In this case there are three different sects you can belong to, and three different companions you can encounter, so if you feel like a challenge, you could try to complete it for all nine possible combinations. |

On Balance, One More Gamebook To Download
I've added two gamebooks by Zachary Carango to the downloads page : Red World and Above The Waves. These were his entries for the last two Windhammer competitions (the latter winning a Merit award).
Stuart Lloyd's review of Above The Waves is here : http://virtualfantasies.blogspot.com/2011/12/windhammer-review-part-4-above-waves-by.html.
On the minus side, I have removed Julius Lee's Welcome To Blackheart Asylum at the author's request. |

The Curse Of Drumer
Robert Douglas' sequel to House Of Hell can now be played online.
"The-the Earl of Drumer's place," he gasps, "You're having a joke with all of us," he laughs nervously, "go on, own up to it!" Your face remains puzzled, no hint of a mischievous grin emerges. Terry's face falls. "Look, look," his hand grips your shoulder, almost crushing it, "you don't know me, I don't know you, but listen, listen," he grits his teeth to emphasise the point: "Don't go there! That place is cursed, I tell you, cursed". |

Above The Waves
The first adaptation I have done of a Zachary Carango gamebook is ready to play.
Even after decades, the dreaded pirate known only as Kurtz still terrorizes travelers on the southern sea. The blood he's spilt could stain the very ocean, and more lives are claimed every month. Even as his death toll rises, many search for Kurtz. Whether for bounty, justice, or fame, these brave souls search for a true demon.
Stuart Lloyd had this to say about it : http://virtualfantasies.blogspot.de/2011/12/windhammer-review-part-4-above-waves-by.html.
Grekgun, Bug Fixes
Also, I have added Grekgun by Tammy Badowski to the downloads page, and I have fixed the bugs in House Of Horror reported by pi4t a few days ago. |

Apparently, on Monday June 4th, the web hosts will be "performing a migration of this server to a new server which features more powerful hardware."
So if odd things happen next week, that's probably the reason. |

Bloodsworth Bayou
I've added this gamebook by Cian Gill to the downloads page. There are no instructions in the document itself (for now) but in the words of the author : It essentially functions on the FF model, with skill, stamina, and luck. The only extra is a 'fear' score that sends the player to paragraph 75 if the 12 fear points are exceeded. |

The Dark Lord
The latest addition to the downloads page is another by Tammy Badowski (author of Grekgun). It's a 200-reference FF gamebook set in Darkwood Forest and Stonebridge.
Note - the DOCX version is the original. The MS-Word version is a conversion that I made using Open Office. |
