Hi all
I was just reading a published gamebook, and a recurring letdown in many of the official FF books struck me again.
For those writing gamebooks I offer this tip: At the end, reward the reader, not just the character. Reading that the townsfolk are cheering my name and that I have received a chest of gold coins would be great if any of it was real, but after I close the book I have nothing. The best gamebooks bring the plot to a satisfying conclusion. |

Anyone big on Lone Wolf here? I just got into them, sort of surprising given that I've liked FF for so much longer. I'm going for all the paperpacks. And yes, I'm aware they're available online anyway, but I prefer real books for my collection. |

Lone Wolf is a great series. This is actually a great time to get into them, because they're being re-issued as "expanded" versions (brand new sections included that were not in the original editions). |

I've heard of them, but don't know much about them. How did they differ from ff format, and where are the online versions mentioned. |

Duff: Most of the books are found on a website called Project Aon. Enjoy. Note they're in e-format. http://www.projectaon.org/ |

Im hving problems subbmitting my gamebook to you, when i click on contact it just takes me to my hotmail i sign in and nothing happens so i click on contact agin and it does the same thing. |
Clicking on the link is supposed to cause your email software (Outlook / Thunderbird etc) to open up a new message addressed to the site - I take it you only use web based email? I'm reluctant to post the email address here unless I really have to as I don't want to receive any more spam, but if you right click on the contact link and select 'properties' it will be displayed (it's the part following the 'mailto:').
Given what you said before though, were you definitely trying to send it to me, or were you trying to submit it to the Windhammer competition? |

Halloween time again, folks. Not that I really care for it, but I would like some opinions on what everyone believes to be the scariest/most disturbing FF title. |

House of Hell and Dead of night were pretty spooky. |

Probably agree with 'House of Hell', although 'Bloodbones' and 'Spellbreaker' also had their moments. |

Finally!
I've finished the first Shadowcaster book and sent it to Andy. It's now on the downloads page. Apologies. My job means that I have a summer with loads of time and no time most of the rest of the year. Since I didn't finish it this summer, I had to wait till now to finish it.
Enjoy! Any feedback will be appreciated!

Thanks Stuart, this saves me the trouble of announcing it myself. Since you don't mention it, I will add that this is in fact the first of a trilogy of prequels to Beneath Nightmare Castle. |

While we're on the subject of 'Nightmare Castle' prequels, I'm planning on my 'Arborell competion entry' being a segment of my prequel (Which is also a prequel to Stuart's prequel, I know this sounds like a Russian Doll here) featuring Skarlos' visit to 'Scorpion Swamp.' It features some of Stuart's concepts and stuff, so can be read before or after 'Shadowcaster'. Those wishing to play the 'whole book' will, I fear, have to wait a while, sorry. Oh, and since it's a 'taster version' some bits may change to make it more 'stand -alone.' Anyway, well done Stuart!
Oh, and the
in 'Shadowcaster' were my idea... |

Sorry, I just reread that and realised it could be misinterpreted. I'm not claiming Stuart to be a plagiarist or anything, just mentioning I helped. Sorry. Well done again Stuart! |

some one should do a werewolf game book i love those ones |
duffmeister Sun Nov 2 15:58:37 2008

I love them too. I did a Vampire one 'The Wrath of Cain' with a 'Howl of the Werewolf style (ie:As you change into a vampire, you get new powers) which is on the downloads section (Although I'll admit that the plot's pretty linear). |

Just curious about the list of games on the side of the pages here. What makes a book be put on the 'more' list ??? |
The reason for having a separate 'more' list is simply that I want the entire menu to fit on a normal size screen (normal being a full size window on my laptop). I don't have a rigid policy for which books go on the 'more' list, and I will probably swap things around from time to time, but those that do end up there are more likely to be older, sequels to other featured gamebooks or not the only gamebook by that author. |

I've played around with a couple of the adventures to try out the new single-step combat feature. It works great! Thanks for this innovation, Andy, and thanks to Ibrahim for his original post. |

That new 'To The Death' feature is awesome! Kudos to Andy and Ibrahim.
Now that I've finished my entry for the Windhammer competition, I'm looking forward playing Soul Tracker!
cheers
