Wow. So now we have a prequel, two sequels, including my own, and another possible prequel in the works.
Just goes to show how great Steve's book really was. |

@ Tammy and Stuart,
Made a backup copy, currently doing my check and edit. I've since completed an Author's Note - total wordcount at about 24500. Only hope the content justifies the amount of words.
1st August is noted in my diary - submissions day! |

@Stuart,
I have a period piece ship novel, but it needs to be fixed up and copyrighted. It'll probably go up on Lulu as a PDF. I'm thinking next year sometime.
Aug 1 just around the corner! It's creeping up fast. |

@ Douglas,
24500? Wow. I will surely vote for you. |

Completed spellcheck and editing, just have to make sure all references are correct (no mistypes in the numbers). According to the Windhammer section of Chronicles of Arborell, submissions started 1st August, so I've a bit of time to check and send off my entry for this year. |

Hi Everyone, I just sent in my entry for Windhammer 2015 last week, and am looking forward to my first experience in such a competition.
It will be exciting to see my name alongside the "big guys" like Robert, Stuart Lloyd, Tammy and others, many of whom have written some of my favorite stories on this site, which I have enjoyed and which have helped inspire me to practice my own writing.
I also have some artwork which I am hoping to share on this site in the near future too! |

Glad to hear you've been inspired. Me too.
Good luck. :) |

@ A.E.Johnston,
There's some 'artwork' in my Windhammer entry, although art isn't really my forte. I'm often amazed at how famous artists could oil paint, sketch, comic strip, etc all those fantastic, elaborate pictures. I envy their talent. Same goes for music: really talented people out their! |

Thanks Robert, I had actually drawn it when I was initially coming up with ideas, but I am happy to share it with everyone:
This would be the "cover artwork" to my Windhammer Entry, and hopefully something to whet everyone's appetites before the competition officially begins tomorrow! |

@ A.E.Johnston,
Your illustration certainly evokes memories of Zulu and Zulu Dawn! I'll be certain to have a quick go at some point in the future. Many people slated Zulu Dawn (the prequel) despite their being a multitude of stars. The battle sequences from both films were fantastically done. I'm a big fan of historical/war movies, including those from WW2. I might suggest that perhaps you'd consider doing sequels set in battles beyond the heroic stand at Rorke's Drift, culminating in the capture of King Cetshwayo? |

Hi, I am in the process of writing a gamebook (I am sure you get these a lot). And I want to submit it to the website, I was just wondering how explicit you will allow the gamebooks to be? I have tried to make the battles as realistic as possible, with very gruesome deaths and outcomes described in every detail. |
Have a look at Escape Neuburg Keep. Are you planning something more gruesome than that? |

More gruesome? Can't wait! I think FFProject will accept just about anything you throw at it. Not sure about erotica, I could be wrong on that though. |

Looking forwards to the release of your book Zed, the more gruesome the endings the better. For me, knowing that there could be a terrible fate in store makes the adventure much more appealing. |

Just had some thoughts on the 'maximum' skill/stamina the average enemy should have depending on how high their skill stat is. I came up with the following:
Enemy: Skill 7 Stamina 14 Enemy: Skill 8 Stamina 10 Enemy: Skill 9 Stamina 8 Enemy: Skill 10 Stamina 6 Enemy: Skill 11 Stamina 5 Enemy: Skill 12 Stamina 4
What do you think? |

Some combat ideas:
ENEMY:
Hits do more damage each round Hits do more damage each time it hits you Hits do more damage each time you hit it Hits use a damage table like the Cockotrice Hits kill you
Takes a skill point with each hit Takes a skill point with each hit and adds it to its own Takes an initial skill point with each hit Takes a luck point with each hit Takes an inital luck point with each hit Takes an initial stamina point with each hit Takes a stamina point with each hit and adds it to its own Takes 2 stamina points and a luck/skill/initial point(s)
Roll a die when it hits you: 1-2: -2 stamina 3-4: - 1 luck 5-6: - 1 skill Roll a die when it hits you: 1-3: -2 stamina 4-5: - 1 luck 6: - 1 skill
Gains a skill point with each hit Gains a stamina point with each hit Gains a stamina/skill point each round Gains a point of skill each time it's hit but loses them when it hits you
It's very strong but only needs 1 hit to kill it It's very weak but has a very high stamina score It's skill score is equal to your skill/luck score Its skill is 1 point higher than yours/1-2 points lower It's stamina is equal to yours It will win drawn attack rounds It can't be hurt and so has no stamina score but you can still kill it outright by rolling 2 sixes.
Ruins a provision with each hit Ruins an item with each hit
You:
You only damage it when you win an attack round if you roll odds/evens You only damage it when you win an attack round if you roll 1-3/4-6 You only damage it when you win an attack round if you roll a double You only damage it when you win an attack round if you roll a certain number or above You only damage it when you win an attack round if you roll at least 1 more point higher than its Attack Strength, then 2, then 3 and so on
Test your luck when you win an attack round or you do it no damage/1 damage Test your skill when you win an attack round or you do it no damage/1 damage Test your stamina when you win an attack round or you do it no damage/1 damage Test your luck/skill/stamina each time it hits you
Lose a skill/stamina/luck point per round
Must defeat it in a certain amount of rounds Must defeat it in less/the same amount of rounds as your skill/luck points
Test your luck/skill/stamina each time you hit it
Both
You gain a skill point when you hit it but it gains that same skill point when it hits you |
