AAAAAAAARG! I got so far ( I think) only to die to an elevator!?

I finally completed it. It reminds me of deathtrap dungeon, but this was arguably better. Really had fun with it. Kudos to the writer, brilliant story.

This was one I finished years ago and wanted to do again. Annoyingly, i took one of the wrong doors, got backtracked and not only did it wipe out all my possessions, but also several of the bits of progress I'd made on my way in which was very annoying, and so I got killed supposedly lacking information I'd already got which was whacky, meaning I had to do the hole thing again.
Still, a great go through with wonderful atmosphere, I particularly like the way the traps and bad stuff are sign posted if you pay attention, though the third time through I was taking alternatives just out of morbid curiosity.
It's sad the author hasn't written more of these, but at least his work on Alibor's tomb will be preserved for posterity.

Three choices, none "bad" or "good", just unlucky, and I am dead. No sense of autonomy.

This is my first comment. Must I say, this was an intense gamebook. Most I don't need to map, but this I found it necessary to. Quality is great. Traps and twists are clever. I would like to lodge a minor complaint about the difficulty of

Loving this, a good old fashioned dungeon crawl

Ah, that death wasn't fair at all! I only wanted to try the shiny on.
amerikranian Wed Feb 22 00:49:53 2017
Aww, that's just plane mean. I made it to the golden doors, and when I opened them the flame killed me. I guess owen is going to die, his greed making him rush to win. oh well. So close.
amerikranian Wed Feb 22 01:05:51 2017
Ugh. another death.

I enjoyed this however I did not last long.

I don't know how many attempts it took, but I finally stand triumphant - and I even took a wrong turn from what I had planned on my final run. It was hard yet felt fair all the time.
This adventure was excellent. I applaud the writer for catching that special something that was in the original fighting fantasy books. And I do not say this lightly: many of the stories on this site are fun but most do not get anywhere near that special feeling.
For a moment I was back in the depths of Firetop mountain. Thank you for taking me back there.
