I can't seem to complete papagayo island, what am I missing?

Also, without being too specific, does the order you do the islands matter? Is there anything on one island needed for another island?

The Maze and the Manse of Mheng
Now both of Andrew Wright's new microadventures are part of Tales From The Bird Islands.
Yaztromo Sun Jul 10 19:09:37 2016
Great! Where are these adventures set? Do they have dedicated islands or are they set on Sempura or on another island already covered?
They are a continuation of the story from Debacle At Dead Man's Inn, so for Tales From The Bird Islands they are set on Sempura.

Great. Glad to see that new stuff has been added. Even more for me to hopelessly fail at now!

I encountered a problem on Blackmaw. I went to the mysterious woman on the secret part of the island and she told me to bring back 50 pearls. When I then returned with 50 pearls it just ran through as if I hadn't been ther before. Please fix it

Could you email me the URL (ie the web address) of both of these problems if you still have them? I will take a look.

Found an ending on Albatross Atoll. This game was slightly confusing and annoying at the beginning because of the necessary repetition, but this is the only down side. I was annoyed at the difficulty of mapping, but found it to be unnecessary. The different character options were a welcome change. Option and travel variety were great. If there are multiple endings, which is logical, good job on creating them. Grade: 99.

Hi, I tried my hand at pirating at Blackmaw for the first time (having run out of quests to do) and I encountered a bug (maybe more than one):
I did Storm Petral before that, and my Prince's Crew defeated the demon there. After that I went to Blackmaw and encountered a Pirate Galleon......and my Prince Crew was still there and was fighting Galleon in my ship's place!
Being a Strike 12 monster, the Pirate Galleon quickly defeated the crew, and then my own ship too.
I "reloaded" the game (I "saved" at the spot after I finished Storm Petral using Favourites) and tried pirating a second time, and again, the Prince's Crew was there. This time I encountered a much weaker Pleasure Schooner....except it was impossible to beat! The Prince's Crew was winning every round, but the Schooner's Strength just won't go down! It's a fight that's impossible to win and I was forced to quit.
So....possibly two separate bugs?
Thanks. I believe I've fixed the first one, will investigate the other as soon as possible.

Yes, definitely.

Ok, in which case how do you want the story written (i.e is there a certain format or just as normal ff books are) and how do I get it to you once written?

Aww! I was doing well (I think?) until I fell in a pit and got stabbed in the throat, while failing miserably at some puzzle sequence I totally didn't get. This is fun, though. I will try again some time. Congrats to the writers for a truly awesome project. My favorite so far was Richard Evans. The descriptions of sea scenery and aquatic creatures were truly gorgeous and the scenario was intriguing (I didn't really solve the mystery optimally). Thanks everyone.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying this game, as it's by far the most complex on this site. However, I've found a bug: When I try to use a flask of poison on Mheng the Mad Mage, the game crashes with an "Error: Can't open file". Does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks for sending me the URL.
I think I've fixed this bug now. However, the URL you sent me won't work as it stands. If you have the URL where you used the flask rather than the scimitar, I'd recommend switching to that if at all possible. It should now work.
In theory it's possible to fix the URL - in this case, replacing the 'u=68' near the start with 'u=179' seems to get things going again, but I don't advise doing this if you can help it, in case it introduces other issues further down the line.

I was playing Morgai Greycloak, in case it makes a difference.

Also, I don't know if this is a bug but I've noticed a couple of weird things. If you tell Saitra that you want to kill the Baron and give her the 50 pearls, she gives you an enchanted conch shell to summon the Kraken so that you can achieve fame by slaying it.
Later, when you obtain the Trident Of The Deepmer, the Deepmer King tells you that the Kraken must be defeated and that the "true power" of the trident can only be used once, leading me to assume that the trident was created to battle the Kraken. However, I've found no way to summon the Kraken, either by using the conch shell at any location or any automatic encounter.
I've completed every existing island including the Sleeping Dragon (except Soulless because, you know) so I'm a bit baffled. I tried going to the banquet first, but there appears to be no way to kill the Baron without summoning the Kraken as Saitra suggested. However, when I returned to Saitra in hopes of getting clues and asked her how to steal the Baron's treasure, she praised me on my "good work" earlier as if I'd killed the Baron, and said that she'd only need 25 pearls this time because of what I'd already done.
Well, I gave her the pearls again, but I obviously couldn't rob the Baron's vault anymore since I'd already gone to the banquet. When I couldn't summon the Kraken, I figured that it just hadn't been implemented, like Crescent Island, but the psuedo-success for "killing" the Baron is pretty weird... what gives? Is this just me, or has anyone else had this issue?
There is no Kraken, at least not yet.

"Wow didn't think I'd last that long... but in the maze I kept on killing things and never escaped. It's never ending. I swear."
I know this is necroposting but I just wanted to say that the maze really is never-ending. It exists so that you can get the Ebony Key to unlock the other door and defeat the Temple Guardian. I'm guessing you've figured it out yourself by now, but I just wanted to put it out here for anyone who's stuck.
William Thu Nov 19 23:01:02 2020
I'm guessing I'm missing something for the Baron, since I saw a couple of comments talking about the fight with him, but right now I'm well and truly stuck. Any help?

For anyone interested, here's my guide to the four characters:
Character Selection Information
Barabas the Fallen: 7 Skill, 14 Stamina, 9 Luck. Honestly my least favorite character, as Barabas is strictly inferior to Morgai Greycloak in most cases- having low combat skill is pretty annoying, and the high Stamina points in no way make up for it, since you're going to be taking a lot more than two extra hits in combat with two points less Skill. (Just my opinion, take with a grain of salt.) Barabas is decent in combat but still weaker than two of the other characters, with a fairly good chance of passing a Luck test.
Morgai Greycloak: 9 Skill, 10 Stamina, 9 Luck. My all-around favorite character, both for stats and her backstory, Morgai is dangerous in combat, having the second-highest stats in that regard, while still having a pretty good chance of succeeding in Luck tests, which might not seem that important but is invaluable in a couple of the later islands.
Rhuncaz Runecaster: 7 Skill, 10 Stamina, 11 Luck. I really like the idea of playing an apprentice magician turned adventurer, but with terrible combat stats, he's honestly far too hard to play, due to the fact that he gets comparatively few advantages for being a wizard. He's apparently not a combat magician if you read his backstory, so he can't cast spells, and the only Rhuncaz-only magical artifact I've found so far is an enchanted dagger that will kill anything, but break on the first use. That sounds really cool, and it is, but considering that most monsters in the game have a good chance of killing you, it really isn't enough to make up for it. 11 Luck effectively means that you never have to worry about any Luck test, but again, you're far more likely to be killed on the first island without ever getting to reap the benefits. If there are any other perks that come with being a magician, I haven't found them.
Tarshawna the Terrible: 9 Skill, 14 Stamina, 9 Luck. A former mercenary captain, Tarshwana is nigh-unstoppable in combat once you acquire armor and a certain magical amulet, but 7 Luck means that any luck test is nearly a flip of a coin. This isn't a big deal in most cases, but acquiring and keeping the

is going to be mandatory if you want to survive a certain island. Pretty fun to play, Tarshawna is my second-favorite character, but ultimately less of an all-rounder than Morgai Greycloak.
Any thoughts?

Goi-Han Island Guide (Should be easy but just in case)
1.
SPOILER
Leave the village and head north into the hills, then north again. If you "search the wreckage" of the slave ship, you'll have a skill test. It doesn't matter much whether you pass or fail, as the only difference is that you have to fight a weak enemy on failure and can loot the ship anyway afterward. (Note that you should save any Hyena Pelts you pick up, as you can sell them for a higher price on Nen-Tai.
In Kullion's sea-chest, you'll find 100 Talons, a Fine Scimitar, and a Sealed Letter. Wield the Fine Scimitar and make your way back to the village to heal back to full health by resting in the tavern. At this point, if you want to, you can buy a ship with your money and continue to the main game. However, I recommend that you complete Goi-Han for the healing potions/artifact and money it gives you, which will really make the game a lot easier. If you choose to leave now, however, proceed to step 3.
END SPOILER
2. If you've decided to clear Goi-Han Island, buy a round of drinks at the tavern and accept the quest to slay Dhurz Deathsnare the Cyclops. From here on, your approach should be a bit different depending on which character you picked.
Tarshawna the Terrible:
SPOILER
Buy a Shield, a Lantern, and a Blessing at the temple. Due to having 14 Stamina, you really don't need both pieces of armor yet and you can proceed directly to tracking down and killing Dhurz Deathsnare. Note that although the Blessing guarantees that you'll successfully evade the first round of traps, the second still has a 1/4 chance of killing you due to having 7 Luck.
END SPOILER
Rhuncaz Runecaster:
SPOILER
Buy the Leather Jerkin, a Shield, and a Lantern, then go north and also proceed directly to hunting Dhurz Deathsnare, as you don't need to worry about either Luck test with 11 luck. However, Dhurz himself still has about a 50% chance of killing you due to your low stats.
END SPOILER
If you're playing any other character:
SPOILER
Buy the Jerkin, Shield, and Lantern, then go back and "Search the wreckage" until you get enough money for a blessing, keeping a careful eye on your health as you do so.
Note that if you're playing Barabas the Fallen, you shouldn't let your health drop below 6, as thunderstorms can deal up to 5 damage if you fail the Skill test to evade them, which you probably will with 7 skill.
END SPOILER
If you've successfully killed Dhurz Deathsnare, congratulations! You will be hailed as a hero by the villagers and receive your very own boat for free, as well as instant healing whenever you return to Goi-Han and can proceed to the rest of the game!

Hi there,
I don't know who reads this, but I'm having a blast!
I used to read gamebooks as a teenager, and I even owned a dozen from the Fighting Fantasy brand.
To think that this gamebook is a fanmade one… Its writing and gameplay are top notch! 10/10 would recommend
