Here's another gamebook to play online. This is by Andrew Wright and it was originally in the second issue of Fighting Fantazine. It's a bit of a rarity in that it uses Sorcery! rules.
You are an adventuring forge-priest of Verlang, and have undertaken many perilous quests across Kakhabad at the behest of your god. You have stared down the Apes of Mauristatia. You have braved the Beastmen of Tinpang Valley. You have even infiltrated the Necromancers' Guild of Throben. But how will you fare in this, your most dangerous adventure? Will you survive the Shrine of the Salamander?
A medium-short gamebook with a true path that results in almost no fighting and is winnable regardless of starting stats (I always like that). It was a lick too easy for my taste but entertaining nonetheless.
My only real complaint is that the intro is a little bit too much "tell" instead of "show" in its writing and that the usage of exotic names was a bit on the comical side.
I also found a few bugs in the book and I've noted them down:
SPOILER
1. 15 -> 257 - MUD spell doesn't work despite having sand in your possession. 2. 87 -> 169 - Using the TEL spell leaves you unable to use the Potion of Transformation. 3. 120 -> 182 - Same as 2, using the TEL spell leaves you unable to use the Potion of Transformation. 4. 141 & 219 - You're able to flee from "First SALAMANDER EFT" (141) and "Fifth SALAMANDER EFT" (219) despite having "Enchanted War Hammer" equipped. 5. 49 & 126 - With Verrema in your party, you're able to flee from "YOUNG SALAMANDER" (49) and "First SALAMANDER EFT" (126) despite having "Enchanted War Hammer" equipped.
END SPOILER
Thanks for the comments, and the bug report. I've fixed 1,4 and 5. The other two are at worst inconsistencies rather than bugs, and they are like that in the original. I will have a think about whether to change them or not.

Looks interesting. I'll wait until the bugs are fixed then I'll head off on my journey. :)

Shrine Of The Salamander Artwork
Brett Schofield has kindly allowed his artwork to be used in the online version of Shrine Of The Salamander, so if you play it now there are loads of illustrations. If you want to see the pictures in their full glory though, you can either visit Brett's deviantArt page or download Fighting Fantazine issue 2 from here.

This was a nice little diversion. Interesting way of handling the spellcraft, especially with the fake ones.

Really great effort, this an instant classic! I'm happy to see the integration of the "sorcery" series spell book, I always appreciated that mechanic. Still working on beating this story, I'm not ready to give up yet. One thing I really appreciated was that while encounters were a challenge, they always feel fair - leaving the true sense of accomplishment in the story to come from successful exploration (which also heightens the replayability!).
Very well done!!

I don't think it is. If you've seen something wrong though, let me know so that I can fix it.
