Sweet subject matter! Rather short and it took a heap of goes to get all the way through, but hugely entertaining |

Golden ending achieved! I played this game while listening A day in the Life! EXACTLY at the same time, so I had to hasten quite a bit as well... |

I have participated in the bin jousting. I had all but forgotten about it. This was in 2013 and the bins had come adrift from their moorings. There's a picture of me on Faceache helping shove a big bin with a chap dressed as Eddie the Trooper on top at another such bin... |

Silvery wings again, though what would be really shiny and chrome is if Bloodstock actually went ahead this year. Metaldays was just cancelled, and San Miguel laughing spreads his wings. |

Played this again just to see what kung fu styles the RADFEM used, I had only had one wing chun lesson when I wrote this. |

I like this ending because it's precisely what Superman vs Batman Dawn of Justice wasn't, apart from the bit about the movie being a big pile of crap. |

Currently Metallica at Glastonbury are on BBC4 and their music is so over familiar to me (literally knowing every note and every utterance, and being able to play every note and every solo in a lot of cases) that I keep putting it on mute and seeing what is on the other side, checking back every song to see if they're playing anything off Load or Re Load which I actually still like. Perhaps my tastes have changed. I am also somewhat curious about why any heavy metal band would want to play Glastonbury or see it as any way desirable for any reason other than wanting to collect the appearance fee and sell more records and merch, I hated the place, the atmosphere and everything it stood for and cannot imagine any metal band wanting to play there the way they would wish to play Bloodstock, Metaldays etc.
Hmm Fade to Black, I might actually turn the sound on for this. |

Holy crap! I got the golden ending, and the only reason I played this is because I desperately wanted to recollect what going to a music event was actually like. Bloodstock's website makes out it is still going ahead but we all know everything hangs on a knife edge, based on Boris's whim. And that guy who looks like Lieutenant Gruber who stands next to him at the briefings. Ooer, little bit of politics there. |

Who is Gruber? Does he look like the 1793 LT Bush? |

I enjoyed this... a LOT!
Five out of five for originality alone. Easily one of my favourites just because this little crude drunken gem stands out so nicely from the more common "raid dungeon, kill dragon" fare, showing what else there is possible in the format. I enjoyed Outsider! and A New Day a lot, too, don't even start to get me wrong. I have to say I love all those innovative approaches though, keeping it fresh either by means of innovative mechanics, or the choice of the subject matter (as here).
Thanks for this piece! |

I have beaten this one before, a couple of weeks ago, but now I decided to try again while actually having the music from bands mentioned in the text whenever they come, and it's certainly more fun that way! (Speaking as someone who is only mildly connected to scene, having never been to any concert and whose favourite band is Nightwish, having heard little from any of the 5...6...? bands mentioned in the gamebook.) I wonder what it would take for FFP to include support for embedded audio in addition to (occasionally) embedded pictures?
Out of the three Gavin's gamebooks I have played on here (this one, Outsider! and New Day Rising) it's actually this one which I consider the "best", in the sense of being the easiest to recommend. Yes, an epic like Outsider! is absolutely a landmark, yet it is one of great highs and great lows alike, and the path it follows is not as well-trodden as some others in the genre, but still at times (overly) familiar. This is just an unashamedly fun work, with a premise an average person would never think of, full of lived experience (forgive me if that term has become ironically lifeless in the recent years) and that is perfectly scoped to achieve all its aims. |

Seven years ago that I wrote this one... had the idea of going to Bloodstock this year but constant chronic foot injuries are a factor against it. |
