Steven Taylor has kindly given his permission for the adaptation of his gamebook - currently available at http://www.fightingfantasy.com - for online play. Expect it to be ready sometime over the weekend.

Rebels Of The Dark Chasms
I've now got Steven Taylor's gamebook up and running.
Rebels Of The Dark Chasms is a fairly short (150 references) spin-off of Chasms Of Malice in which you play a dwarf rebel attempting to rescue your captured leader, Aspra Smoothcheek.

Can I have the rebels of the dark chasms original document please? Its very good but i'm realy confused about the end of it, is it the real end when you and aspra get cought by gaurds?
You can read spoilers by clicking them three times.
Or by dragging the cursor over them.

Thanks Phil for the way to read spoilers. I have been reading nearly all of them, but its a bit of a shame there are none about Rebels Of The Dark Chasms however i can give some hints about how to get as far as i've got:
SPOILER
1. go the longer rout to the citadel 2. grab the bottle 3. get lucky 4. trade for the magic axe
END SPOILER
I think thats what you should do to start with but as I say I havn,t finished it so who knows.

Eh!? what happened to my nice spoiler? Are you supposed to use angle brackets (<>) not normal ones?
Just test: <s>SPOILER</s>
Eliot Ball Sat Dec 11 15:19:12 2004
wierd!
Phil Sadler Sat Dec 11 16:33:28 2004
You need a
SPOILER
at the start, then a
END SPOILER
at the end.
I've now added a 'spoiler' button to the form which puts them in for you.

Just how do you talk to the chef?
Eliot Ball Wed Dec 15 14:09:45 2004
Aha! I have completed Rebels Of The Dark Chasms (although it was only the origonal document (I cannot talk to the chef in the interactive game)). It is very exiting (although less so at the end). I am now trying to win, Lair Of The Troglodytes wich seems vurtually, impossible (and I thought, Rebels Of The Dark Chasms was hard!).

Hi.
I've been playing through Rebels of the Dark chasm.
SPOILER
I can rescue Aspera, and revive her using bottle 35, but then I get killed in a noble but rather pointless last stand, any hints as to ho to avoid death would be much appreciated.
END SPOILER
thanks in advance.

Did you talk to the chef in the kitchen? Also, did you befriend the Gaddon on your way to the citadel?

Question about REBELS OF THE DARK CHASM
Has anyone ever beat it? I've played through it several times, but even when I give Aspra the potion "35", the orcs come and kill us promptly! How do I prevent this?
Anyone who's beaten it, do tell!

Hi,
First off, nice site! I'm a newbie here and relatively new to gamebooks.
Now, I'd like to ask something about rebels of the dark chasm:
SPOILER
How do I jump the chasm at the end? I get across, but she falls in. I've tried different paths but I seem to be missing something vital here.
END SPOILER
Thanks for any help.

Grundius:
Re: Rebels of the Dark Chasms
SPOILER
I do seem to recall there was some way to jump across the chasm; but just replaying it then, I took the middle path and reached a dead end where I was able to fight the Boss and reach a successful ending.
END SPOILER
Duffmeister:
Rather than taking out the 'Rise of Skarlos' from your title, I would suggest taking out 'the beginning'. Nightmare Castle: Rise of Skarlos is a good title. ( A lot of your stories seem to involve something or other 'rising' :) ) Also, you seem to be writing a lot of gamebooks all at once. How about deciding on an order and then working on them one by one?
Grundius Mon Jun 16 17:56:46 2008
Ulysses AI,
Thanks, now at least I know that
SPOILER
there is a way to jump the chasm and it's not just some kind of "least-bad" end.

Okay, this is driving me mad:
SPOILER
In 'Rebels of the Dark Chasms, I successfully heal Aspra and escape through the secret passage, but then there's a 3-way junction, and all three ways lead to death. What am I getting wrong?
