Wonderful setting, characters and mystique. Very much to my liking :)

Common problem #3
I always get killed in the secret room. (or some of you may wanna say "The star of ages kills me")
(I assume you know who Grisela is) Hint:
SPOILER
The green crystal that you think is the Star of Ages IS NOT the Star of Ages. It is a second deathtrap.
END SPOILER
SPOILER
You need more information than just the correct password to obtain the real Star of Ages
END SPOILER
SPOILER
Grisela can give you more important information than just the correct password
END SPOILER
SPOILER
"What you cannot see has great meaning for Grisela" (quoted from book) does that remind you of a blank patchment?
END SPOILER
Solution:
SPOILER
1. Enter the first room on the left branch and look at painting. Enter the painting and save the girl. She will tell you who Grisela is. When you exit the painting, make sure you search the chest first and get the "blank" patchment. 2. When you meet Grisela, she will tell you the correct password. 3. Show her the patchment, and she will tell you to "be wary of the table you find in the room. Instead of taking what is on the table, take what is underneath the tablecloth" With this knowledge you will avoid the second deathtrap in the secret room and find the real Star of Ages.
END SPOILER

I don't know who it was who snuck into my room, but he killed me nonetheless. Anyone ever read the parody House of Venus?

I have no idea how to get the password...

Very good book this one.
Review coming:
Took me only 7 deaths too be able too finish this one, didn't needed too read the book version, online version was good enough. Unfortunatelly, the fact that this adventure was soo similar too House of Hell (after all, it was based in that book, from what the author said) made some things kind of nostalgic (and easier too find out for me).
Unlike House of Hell, I could actually believe that people with 7-14-7-7 stats could win this adventure without great effort.
I kind of dislike how "linear" the right path is, I mean you can simple avoid a load of rooms that will only weak you down,... BUT making the adventure dificulty more focused in the "find the correct information/items" than figthing overpowered monsters was a very good call.
Password information was very well hidden, the fact that you needed
SPOILER
to do the right actions about that little "hand attacking thing" too end the book
END SPOILER
was a nice touch.
Overall, I liked the book, very nostalgic in the way that made me remember House of Hell.

Hi, well done with House of Horror! Always been a big fan of the FF books, played them since 1992/1993, (I was 7/8 years old), and I got House of Hell for Christmas 1995, - always been one of my favourites and I think you've done well on this prequel. Great atmosphere and nods to . The only thing was last time I played it, I got stuck in a loop, (when you encounter the three enemies, - the butler, duke and the woman - sorry I haven't looked up the names), and no matter what I did my character always got killed. Was there something I missed in my playthrough?
Half Pint Fri Apr 18 13:21:40 2014
Sorry, that should be: 'Great atmosphere and nods to 'the original', (I put the last two words brackets, - odd how it didn't show up).

Easy! =P
I really love the trilogy.
Curse of Drumer is by far the most difficult book though. I was fortunate enough to figure the path by chance without too many falses but even then I died repeated times with all the tests. Don't start Curse with any less than 5's in all the stats!

Just had a quick playthrough, really like it! This is one for the corner of the screen in work I think ;) Thanks!

Nice game. It would be better if each section was revealed individually, rather than multiple entries at once. Also, when fighting it would be more tense if each round of combat was revealed individually (possibly with the option of luck, if able to program that in?)
Overall,good effort

Good story. I like that you have to find a weapon.
