Does anyone know which plant you have to meet in POTS to succeed in not blowing up the earth? I talked with the sappling tree, but that's the only one I can find closely related with a plant. Help would be appreciated.
There is more than one way to deal with your parent-bot. There are 3 ways in fact. To find the correct one, you do need to get past the soldier so you can a couple of other things before you are captured. Regardless of how you get past your parent-bot, you must have a command code to turn on the air-con, otherwise, you will be cooked. A further clue: there is one very important object that is used twice.
END SPOILER
Hope that helps.

SPOILER
Yep, that's the one. I know it's a bit cruel to require this bit after you have worked your way through the rest of the adventure.
In getting as far as you have in PotS, did you manage to

increase your Attack Strength when using the Energy Whip, and discover how to weaken Phisphodia? If so, how difficult was it to discover how to do these two things?
Even when I get environmental control I still get vapourised, regardless of timing. In the downloadable version, it implies that you should turn to numbers you find (ie: 24 for Gary Fishbourne) but when onine that's impossible
I'd say personally that the energy whip was very easy to find. Its a little like hellfire in that it looks likea bad thing to do, but I picked it up on my second playthrough. Took me a while to figure out the tree thing as well. As for weakening the queen, I still haven't figured that one out.
this is an awesome website, played half the games so far, diamond key is my favourite. i'd love to play deathtrap dungeon on here
Thanks. The only way Deathtrap Dungeon will appear here is if Ian Livingstone gives permission and provides me with an electronic copy, so it's not very likely.
Andy, I'm sorry to say this, but a flaw in the online-gamebook system has risen like the heads of Scylla from her rock before me. Occasionally, the options do not appear (You will not be allowed to proceed) Emotions which are the true flaw at the heart of humanity, that which prevents humanity from truly being gods, rise in me, when, having striven like Job trying to retain joy in an adventure, succeeding in doing what needed doing, and rightfully deserving a proper ending to an adventure, I am faced with the ending of- 'The demon rises, sword in hand. Fear grips your heart as you...' after which is nothing. I am impressed with the system, but very slightly irked. all I seek to know, not having the Lucifer-esque attitude of simply rebelling against those with whom I am a friend, cursing things I dislike, is, is there a way to progress when this occurs?
Yes there is : either describe the bug or, better still, copy and paste the URL and email it to me and I will fix it.
If you have a command code, then when you reach the final corridor, you will automatically use it to turn on the air-con. Unless there is some flaw somewhere, the only way to get cooked in the final corridor is to run out of time, or not have the command code. Are you sure you have the command code? You went to the bridge after leaving the nightclub? If you do, then perhaps there is a bug somewhere. Alternatively, if you would like to write a description of the path you follow through the book I can tell you where you are going wrong. At this point you might be thinking that it would be much easier if I was to just give out a walkthrough. But I am philosophically and morally opposed to giving out walkthroughs.
I just found this site a couple of days ago, and it is awesome. Thanks for the great work. However, I am having issues with lair of the troglodytes. (I do really enjoy the concept of playing a weaker race). There is actually no way to beat LoT. I have gone through it multiple times, and chosen every possible different option, even to the point of mapping out the path the story takes in a flow chart style. Basically it doesn't matter what you do, the story ends with you getting thrown into the crypt, then killed by the human, or the chief. This is really annoying, because as I said before I really like this concept. Is there something I am just missing?
I have now found the golden spear, although its a little odd that unless you take the specific right path, nothing you do will enable you to win. However, I never got the option of fighting vurg, it made me give him the spear, I never got the option to keep it for myself.
(I know this is an option, because I downloaded the gamebook, so I could hunt through and see if I could find what i missed).
Zaltais, glad you're enjoying Lair of the Troglodytes. As well as the spear, you also need:
SPOILER
the gourd, which you get in a pit near the Guard room, by running down a passage away from the guard. Take this gourd to the hag, who will identify it for you, and use it as soon as you enter the big room, before you fight the adventurer.
And yes I really enjoyed Lair of the Troglodytes, my only wish is that it were bigger. Maybe exploring the crypts, or the outside world. But then again a lone trog wouldn't last long in those environs i spose.
This sight is awesome! I haven't played one of these gamebooks in almost 25 years and it brought back a lot of memories. Great idea... hope to see more books on here!
I talk to the computer, learning the level I am on. Then I head for the command deck, stopping in the medic's area along the way. I ignore the Observation dome, get my and Gary's IDs, show the guards Gary's ID, return to the bridge, get environmental control, fight the soldier, run along the corridor, turn right for a power pack. Deactivate the parent-bot, get on her ship, with still at least 10 minutes to go and still I DIE of cremation.
