Hey cool man, I had the almost the entire set of the original FFs (up to #54) when i was a kid, and I even used to play Advanced FF quite alot. So it was great to see there is still a popular FF community online. Stumblimg across this site I gave House of Horror a go seeing as it harked back to one of the original stories. I actually found it really difficult and found myself restarting more than I think i ever did back in the days. That wasn't so bad though, but when I did actually make it to the end and defeat the demon I was disappointed that you have to die also, being sucked into hell. Did I make a wrong turn? Is there anyway to avoid this? If not thats kinda suck-ass considering a stayed up late for two days only to be sucked into hell! :s
Well met. I use JFW also. I love it when I meet new blind people who enjoy similar things to myself. Tell me, do you like text adventures or as they now call it Interactive Fiction as well? Perhaps if you are on messenger, you could add me. My email address is "igucukoglu@hotmail.com" and I can introduce you to this facinating medium if you aren't already aware of it. It is truely brilliant stuff, like being inside a novel where you control the every actions of the main character.
All the best.

I am also a blind user, which is one of the reasons I like this site so much. Ffproject.com and sryth.com are probably of my two favorite sites on the net to date, heheh. Anyway, if there are any other blind users out there, feel free to add me to msn. Or even if you're not blind, shrug. Works for me. MSN: kicrush@hotmail.com Also, to the site admin, I'm not sure if this has been asked before or if you can even offer a proper date, but do you have any idea when The Diamond Key will be available for online play? It sounds really cool, but I can't really check it out because I hate wading through PDF with my screen reader. Thanks.
I never commit to any schedule, but I would expect to have The Diamond Key ready around late summer. If that sounds a long way off, remember that it's twenty times the size of, say, Isle Of The Cyclops.
Yeah, I love these text games, I've always loved reading and stuff. I love listening to audio books, I'm trying to find a good machine so that I can download them from the web. It's brilliant when you can just turn on a cd player or tape recorder and have someone tell you a story.
I found out about this site from a link on another site: www.whitestick.co.uk. It's a great site too. I've finished a few of the games, but not all. Which ones were your favourites?
I'm not on messenger yet, but will drop you an e-mail sometime, or u can send me one. E-mail: clairejmb(at)eircom(dot)net.
ibrahim when you say interactive fiction you mean like adrift and muds and stuff? if you like these kinds of games alter aeon is one that has a log in for blind players that cuts down on spam
oops forgot... Sat Mar 31 01:51:17 2007 General Chat
alter aeons website where you can connect is "dentinmud.org" and the port for blind players is 3010. i can't get to the website through my browser but if you use a mud client you can
Hi, folks. I have a question about Midnight Deep. I've gotten fairly far in that game, but every time I reach the part where you must go to sleep (you pass through a door in a temple, with monks), I end up dead. I obviously need sigils of either the light, the middle or the dark path, but I don't know which sigils are which and don't know how to find out. Could anyone list which I would need upon which path? Beyond that, I think I'm good.
Hello Mikey- to answer your question, yes, it is possible to have a better ending in House of Horror and get out of the adventure alive.
SPOILER
Near the beginning, you have to attack the cloaked man who enters your room. He will give you a password to use for the guard underneath the house. When you use the password, the guard gives you a pentacle which saves your life at the very end.
In relation to Midnight Deep, I had to ask the same question a while ago. I finished the game by going the good way, you know through the light, I presume you can win regardless of the path you choose.
Anyway, for going the good way, you need to first choose the good way when you're in the dream and the old woman asks you to choose a door, you wake up and have an object with you, I can't remember what it is. Anyway, when you're on your travels you must come across a snake and kill it, you take the snake's skin with you and when you reach the next village, you go to the jeweler's and she makes a bracelet out of the skin, then wehn you come to the monks' place, go through the good door and you won't die. Also, if you wish to go the bad way, you choose the third door in the dream and wake up with an object. Then on your travels, you must spend a night in a graveyard, battle with a ghost thing and afterwards you get another object, thehn when you come to the monks' place, you take the third door.
That might seem a bit vague, but hope it helps. Just remember that whatever way you choose in the dream, you must continue on that path later on.
Hi All Thanks a lot,Ulysses. May be you can also advise how to calculate Damage Bonus for special weapons ( such as Holy Broadsword) in game? cause I think that Damage Bonus given in text was calculated compared with old weapon bonuses
I'm not sure which version has ended up on the downloads page. But the combat system does have some teething problems. I hope this is not scanadlous, but I would suggest assuming that you win every battle and just enjoy the story. Sorry for the omissions.
Could anyone please tell me where I can find the machine where I put in the black perl in order to get the platinum key in Allibor's tomb. I've searched around for ages but can't find it. Is it after the bit where you get the heat-resistant boots because I keep finishing up at that bit?
It's in a room by itself. I can't remember exactly where, but I would be quite sure it's before the heat-resistance boots. It's a room where a key is in a set of shackles. You can actually pay gold too, but you would need a lot of gold.
Thanks for the hints about Midnight Deep, by the way. It's the only game besides Riders of the Storm here on the site that I haven't yet beaten. House of Horror was the last, and boy is that game strange...all those potential rooms and bits of exploration, and almost none of them useful!
Even if you did know she was a demon, what can you do but act normally. I've never completed the book, but I have got to the bit where you see her nude in the king's tub. She is your employer after all and presumably, you have no idea whether her intentions are good or evil at the time of discovery.
It is still a bit confusing to me. You can not question her when all you know is that she is a demon. But later in Castle of light when you know she is fighting for the good cause even being a demon, you are allowed to defect her
END SPOILER
To Ulysses I played your book a couple of times with new damage bonuses and enjoyed it very much, but also came to conclution that armors must be also improved corresponding to increase in weapon damage
If you met Alyn Kyra in the ballroom of the palace, she gives you a little bit about the background of the Barashai demons (herself and Kianmay). In their service to Heaven, the demons are being redeemed, and losing their demonic nature. Alyn Kara is less transformed that Kianmay, and thus less human in appearance, but also more powerful and retaining more memories about her previous life. Part of the redemption is to regain innocence through the loss of memories about their past evil. This is why Kianmay's secret is not so much something she is hiding so much as something she is embarrassed about. When the character sees her bathing, he becomes confused and uncertain; because he has seen and sensed her goodness, but then sees physical evident that she might have a different nature. He is not sure what it means, so doesn't jump to any conclusions. He doesn't ask her about it because, it's not an easy thing to talk about, for her and for him (since her would have to tell her how he knows). It's like discovering that your good friend has a criminal record. It's a bit hard to bring up and keep a good relationship. You only turn on her when you face King Darm if you believe his story about her, which you may if you have seen the physical evidence, but not heard Alyn Kyra's explanation.
