if you still need to know where the platinum key in The Trial of Allibor's Tomb is:
SPOILER
After the pillared hall where you meet the little man who will open one of the 3 metal boxes for you, you follow the passage south, then turn west at the junction. The passage turns south, and then you open the door in the west wall with the silver key from the rubbish pile. Inside is the vending machine.
Thanks for that, I managed to get the key and got all the way to fighting the skeleton of Allibor. Unfortunately I think I need some holy water or something to reduce his stamina and I don't have it. I remember having it before in the game though, I've re-started it so many times so I might have to start again, but I should get through it pretty quickly.
Well, it seems like ages sinse I last checked this guestbook.
First, I'm really pleased people have come here via the links on Whitestick.co.uk. I emailed the webmaster the links to a few gamebook sites, ----- but i didn't expect him to put as much work into creating the page as he has done, particularly putting links to the start of each book.
Also, I've done a pod cast about this site where I talk a bit about gamebooks, play a litle of Impudent peasant and generally behave like a loony. I hope it'll introduce more visually impared people to the genre, and this site, and also It might be of interest to people who are wondering what playing Ff with a screen reader is like.
You can find it on the Blind cool tech website at http://www.blindcooltech.com/
I'd like to do a couple more pod casts about gamebooks, perhaps one about Html books like Chronicals of Arborell or Lone wolf, and one on how to go about playing a gamebook presented as a text file with a screen reader (sinse this is something that's come up in this thread).
stil, I'll be looking forward to trying out Diamond Key when it's onlinified, there's no denying it does gamebooks much easier to play, particularly the way that this site handles all of the dice and calculations.
Hey all dont know if this has already been answered in previous postings but how the heck do u get past the count and his servant in House of Horror, ive managed to get the star of ages etc and the bronze necklace but i always end up gettin nailed by the black robed cronies :*(
you need to have the Stringiamano as well. You are attacked the first time in the Stringiamano room, then make sure to visit the library (where it will attack you again) and then you will be attacked for a third time downstairs. After the third attack, choose to trap it instead of destroy it. You will place it in a wooden box to take with you. It will then come in handy when facing the Count at the end.
END SPOILER
If you are still having problems, send an email to the address listed on the House of Horror page and I´ll send you a full walkthrough.

Hey, Dark. Nobody else has mentioned anything, so just wanted to say I really enjoyed your podcast. Nice work.
I think we all are. Andy will have it up and running in due course. This site is just a hobby and there are other more pressing things to attend to in ones life plus it is probably the most complex FF book what with damage bonuses and penalties, weapon classes and so on. I imagine that due to the limitations of the system a few of these things will have to be skipped or at least simplified to some extent.
I'm about halfway through now. You're right that there will be some simplification - there almost always is - although the combat system is not a major problem. For what it's worth, the main issues are the sheer size, assumptions made by the text that are not necessarily true, and situations where items are lost only to be regained later. I should point out that Ulysses has been very helpful, asking in advance what would cause problems for the software, and even providing an edited version when I was concerned about there being too many objects.
Sounds like a massive Midnight Deep to me, and that book didn't really seem to be simplified. I'm looking forward to this one though, I've always liked being able to equip different weapons and such.
There were certainly simplifications in Midnight Deep - the one that springs to mind is that there was originally a restriction on the number of items that you could carry, plus I think I removed some unnecessary or unreachable items and weapons.
Hey everyone I have a very strange situation with The Diamond Key. Whenever I try and read it it resets my entire PC within minutes! I don't understand why this is because I have many other Word documents and nothing like this happens with them.
Does anyone know what's going on?
I've noticed in the past that there are some compatibility issues between certain versions of Word that cause the effect you describe. But I have no problems with The Diamond Key myself, nor have I heard of anyone else seeing this.
I have now used my own version of Word to save the document and uploaded the result to the site. My suggestion is that you download it again and see if you still have the same problem.
Hey Andy sorry to be a pain but I have just noticed something about Riders of the Storm that I never have before simply because it's been so long since I've looked at the original text version.
It's the fact that you no longer get the choice to carry one of the usual Skill, Stamina or Luck potions. In your online version they are now just part of the random things you are given at the start and I think that this makes the adventure much too difficult. Would it be possible to make it so that the reader has the choice of which of them to carry, instead of making them part of the random process?
Thanks
It's a while ago now, but I think that what happened is that some of the random items were impossible to implement, so I replaced them with the potions. I'll look into this.
Hi everyone. Have you played "Wrong Way Go Back" yet? I have been playing it, but I get stucked on page 79 of "Which level will you try now?" I pressed any numbers and I couldn't get the right answer, so this question has repeated, then I get stucked, couldn't finish this gamebook. Anyone knows the right answer?
