Off topic I know but I have just completed my last exam for college and will never have to go back to that God-forsaken place gain except to gain my results: yey!
> I've realized there's a few references which are a page long or more. How do you feel about that?
I'd try and break them up into paragraphs. Your job isn't to tell a story or have a great overarching plot. Remember that the most popular official Fighting Fantasy book is Deathtrap Dungeon, whose plot is "this guy's built a dungeon and you're trying to get through it."
It's a matter of opinion. Personally, I do think that the story and plot are important - though of course complicated plots can still be conveyed using an economical style of writing. You might also be interested to know that according to Amylase, Deathtrap Dungeon is second in popularity to the much more complex Creature Of Havoc.
I can't seem to get into gary fishborne's room and without his manual I can't do anything after I unscrew the parent bot. Also, if you try to take the torch from the locker an error message appears in the browser, saying that it cannot open the file.
As a child, Fighting Fantasy gamebooks took the best parts of "Choose Your Own Adventure" and "Dungeons and Dragons" with just a sprinkling of Tolkien in it's (mostly) fantasy setting and combined to make a riviting read and game experience. Having collected most of the early books, about 20 so far, I would LOVE to collect the surprising number of titles that are out now. When are they going to be available in the U.S??????. Lucky Brits. I just got Night Dragon from quite a persitent and pricey internet hunt. Has anyone ever BEAT that book? -Just askin.
I tried "The Trial Of Allibor's Tomb," and the player's stats won't update when a fight is in progress. Is that going to change?
Thanks. Regarding the stats failing to update, I just checked and it seems to be OK. If you or anyone else see this happening again, could you email me the URL?
I'm currently attempting to do one myself. I'm trying to make it classic style but with enough innovation in plot to make it something different. Can anyone suggest what the optimum length should be? I've done 100 references so far and I'm planning on 400. I see some make them longer and shorter though. Any opinion on how long it should be? I'm using a basic Village-Forest-Town-Hills-Fortress structure.
Thanks in advance.
I don't think there is an optimum length. There are examples of gamebooks ranging from 50 to 1000 references on this site alone.
Halfway through my gamebook, I got 700 viruses off a Chinese Website.
Had to format my hard drive. Don't know what I'll do about the gamebook. I will keep you guys updated.
I believe that it is possible to recover data from a hard drive even after it has been formatted, and that there is free software available to do this. So there is a chance that your gamebook may not be irretrievably lost.
