I'm Writing A Gamebook
You know 'Blood of the Mandrake'? how close did it come to publishing and which elements of its prequels was it to have (Other than the mandrakes themselves)?

Also, have recieved plenty of details on Shadowcaster by Stuart Lloyd and it sounds great, like Sorcery except Shadowcaster is really good.

With the exception of 'The rings of Kether', which gamebooks have rules for spacecraft battles?

Starship traveller
Sky Lord
Robot commando (actually huge robots, but it could be adapted)
Freeway fighter (actually motor vehicles, but could be adapted.)

I'm Writing A Gamebook
Hey, news. I've been thinking. My prequel consists of six 'Chapters', each of which is a sort of sub-adventure, a bit like how in theory, Isle of the Cyclops would be with the sequels mentioned in it, the chapters can be played in any order providing 1 comes first and 6 comes last, so would you like 1 and 2 sent in?
By all means, if they are really as complete and distinct as you suggest. What I am trying to avoid is a situation where I am expected to keep posting successive drafts of half-written gamebooks - this could lead to disappointment on the part of the author.

Rebels Of The Dark Chasms
Hi,

First off, nice site! I'm a newbie here and relatively new to gamebooks.

Now, I'd like to ask something about rebels of the dark chasm:

'Nightmare Castle:The Beggining: Rise of Skarlos' now features an explanation of the origins of 'The Masters' of Scorpion Swamp. Two questions, firstly, does anyone have (Or does anyone know where to find) a map of Scorpion Swamp for my book? Also, should I cut the 'Rise of Skarlos' bit from my title to make it shorter?

This is entry 1000 in this guestbook.

May I take this opportunity to thank Andy for creating and maintaining this site, thereby allowing us to build a community of FF-appreciators. And thanks to everyone for writing and reading gamebooks, giving the concept of gamebooks new (and dare I say it, improved) life.

I was going to try and get entry 999 and warn the next person to say something momentous, so Andy could frame it and put it on his wall. But this will have to do.

Hmm, somehow it just doesn't seem frameworthy...
I should point out that despite appearances, this really was the 1000th message when it was posted. Since then I have deleted some earlier (spam) messages, which has left the unfair impression that Ulysses cannot count. Cheers anyway, though, and thanks to you and the other writers for providing such quality material for me to work with.

Sorry, Ullyses, I failed to realise the whole 'reference 999'thing. I'd have tried something special if I knew. In reconciliation, perhaps I can still do something memorable. I'm thinking of a short (25-30 reference) gamebook in the very pages of the guestbook. Since it's a special occasion, perhaps a gamebook featuring loads of ideas from different gamebooks. Something along the lines of Zagor, Agglax and the Snow Witch teaming up (Or facing off) or suchlike. I'll start it over the weekend. Post any ideas to involve in the guestbook...

Perhaps the sub-adventure could be a 'King Kong'-esque adventure, where you play as a massive creature, destroying cities and killing other giant beasts (Like 'Appointment with F.E.A.R.' except that instaead of the superhero theme it has a 'Godzilla King Kong' theme.

'Nightmare Castle: The Begginning' also features the ancestors of Grimslade, Poomchukker and Selator.

I work for a website called Friction.tv (http://www.friction.tv). We’ve had a video uploaded of Steve Jackson talking about the re-release of the Fighting Fantasy books that I thought you and your readers might be interested in. The link to the video is:

Bodies In The Docks
If Simon Osbourne won't write a sequel to'Bodies in the Docks' can someone ask him to either explain some of the loose ends fom BITD or let someone else write one. (And if he is going to, could he, since it was such a great adventure)/
You might find these interesting :

Duffmeister:

Rather than taking out the 'Rise of Skarlos' from your title, I would suggest taking out 'the beginning'. Nightmare Castle: Rise of Skarlos is a good title. ( A lot of your stories seem to involve something or other 'rising' :) )
Also, you seem to be writing a lot of gamebooks all at once. How about deciding on an order and then working on them one by one?
