A little confused, I reached the shrine in the mountains and tried saying Salvir, Oramvir and Orravir, but all the names produced the muffled sigh. I made sure to spell all names correctly, can anyone possibly help? |
It's Aramvir (with an A) not Oramvir. Could that be your problem? |

Nice, seems I reached the optimum ending without the aid of gods after all! |

@Amir Thanks for your comments; I'm glad you liked the book. With regard to the branching, I wanted to add as much choice and re playability as possible, and in doing so went a lot further than most fighting fantasy books (by my calculations you'd need to play about five times to catch all the major encounters). As to the protagonist, there's one or two encounters in "A Shadow in the North" - the sequel - that reveal more about him, though I won't say more for fear of spoilers (BTW Andy, how far do you think you are for having it ready on the site?). If you liked my writing generally, I'd recommend the bird islands project, I've recently put up one or two short pieces there. |

Richard, thanks for the response. I'll make sure to check out bird islands, although I'm usually more inclined towards the longer pieces. I like the potential of the world you created in Shadow of the North.

As you may be aware, the sequel, A Flame in the North, is now online thanks to the tireless efforts of this sites host. If you enjoyed this gamebook then I hope you will like it. I've aimed to deal with some of the problems of ASITN whilst enlarging upon the better elements, so all feedback is appreciated. |

An interesting story. Strong Aspects: Immersive world, beautiful use of English, various outcomes. Weak Aspects: Use of magic is somehow restrained due to loss of too much Stamina. I remember casting only lexicon and unlock and just one the Inferno Spell. Final Comment: Can't wait to read the sequel (8/10) |

Loved the story. You can spin a great tale! I particularly liked that there was more than one path to follow to complete it (ie: missing one item did not render you unable to complete the story). |
