I just played the Strange Case of the Bodies in the Docks. It's a fun adventure which reads almost like a novel. The elaborate game system and the rather odd ending suggest that more projects are to be expected, though none seem to be on this site. I anybody aware of any followup stories? |
It was intended to be the first in a series of three Lovecraft-inspired gamebooks. Simon has at least made a start on the second, but given that about eight years have elapsed since then, I wouldn't hold out too much hope. |

This adventure is more simple than most people think. Hint:

Just noting "Killed by Deep Ones in cultist HQ" has this blasphemously mundane flair about it? Ouch! Well, shouldn't have played the Doctor... And because shameless self-hyping is so despicable: http://www.writing.com/main/view_item/item_id/1947056-My-revision-of-the-Cthulhu-Rap |

This time I have been killed when I was almost there (bad luck with dices), but in general, I enjoy it every time I re-play it. |

Best fan-made Fighting Fantasy gamebook I've played! Well done! Big fan of the Cthulhu Mythos, think you've captured the essence of the story and setting very well. Been playing this now and then since April 2010, didn't complete it until 23rd December last year! (2013). Really enjoyed it, though I didn't realise it would end when it did, still, hope you get round to doing a sequel! |

This is such a great read, I was hoping there would be something similar, in the other books but nothing quite captures the ambiance that this does! I've played it twice now and in one version drove the car instead of the train I really love that option it's such a detailed game and must have taken a long time to write! I am very grateful. |

Completed this but couldn't really tell you what happened and why! Good supernatural horror plot but the ending I got has left me with more questions than it answers. |
It was meant to be the first part of a trilogy, but the other two instalments never happened. If you're interested, Simon Osborne has quite a bit to say on the subject here. |

I've finally finished this! Guess I never realized how close to the end I'd been. That fight with the two cultists and two Deep Ones always did me in. Somehow, this time I had strong enough stats to come out on top, though it still came down to the wire. Anyway, a long time ago, I wrote up a playthrough for this game. Go take a look! http://www.ciangill2.blogspot.com/2011/03/lost-games-bodies-on-docks.html |
