Hello all, if you need any help getting through the islands, I'd recommend you tackle them in this order...
SPOILER
1. Goi Han (you have to) 2. Papayago 3. Albatross (you win by leaving ASAP) 4. Hummingbird 5. Silhouette
END SPOILER

Just realised the "trick" to hummingbird island. Its a really fun adventure, so long as you have a modicum of common sense (which I lacked in my first attempt at it).

Storm Petrel Island or The Trial of Tempest Isle or The Beast of Skull Rock
Richard Evans' first contribution to the Bird Islands project is now ready to play. You should see 'Storm Petrel Island' added to the list of destinations when you leave an island.

Is there anyway of surviving Hummingbird island?
Yaztromo Fri Dec 19 23:14:41 2014
Hi Lord EEA, just have a look at the comment just before yours: surviving Hummingbird Island is a piece of cake, if you get the trick ;-)

Nen-Tai
Another Bird Island - one of the two off the east coast of Goi-Han mentioned in Isle Of The Cyclops - is now up and running. This is also written by Richard Evans.

Sapphire Atoll
The instigator of the Bird Islands project makes his first appearance. It's the small atoll with connections to The Sleeping Dragon that Ulysses spoke of a few days ago.
It's meant to begin after a shipwreck, and possibly finish at Sempura, however as we don't have either of these things yet it is currently reached in the usual way and finishes at Goi-Han.

Bird Islands Additions
Tales From The Bird Islands now incorporates three more (short) Andrew Wright gamebooks :
In The Shade Of The Pango Tree Debacle At Dead Man's Inn Into The Valley Of Halos
They were originally written for the Fighting Fantasy Newsletter, and have been on the Downloads page here for a few years. They were set in the Old World, in Mauristatia, but for our purposes have been relocated to Sempura.

I am loving what you're doing here!
Thanks very much. You're more than welcome to join in with Tales From The Bird Islands if you like.

More Bird Islands
Blackfort Island now joins Tales From The Bird Islands with these new additions from Ulysses Ai :
The Island Of The Tyrant Island Of The Soulless
As written, The Island Of The Tyrant included ship combat - this hasn't been included in the online version (yet). Nonetheless, everything bar one side quest (which depends on an object from Crescent Island) is possible.
Blackmaw is now one of the possible destinations when you set sail, the other island is reached a different way...

Hummingbird's island: death by attrition. I think I'm probably missing something, but this one was a painful playthrough.
There is a trick to this one that makes it fairly easy once you know it.

I was recently playing island five (no idea on the spelling), and ran into what I think may be a bug. I went through the jungle, and killed the tribal leader. When I then choose an option, I get a completely unrelated page. Specifically, options 1 and 2 (enter jungle and return to village) display an error page ("ERROR: Can't open file"). Option 3 returns me to the first island as if I had selected Morgai, and option 4 does the same, accept selecting BARABAS. I'd initially played the gamebooks on (and saved a bookmark in) a version of internet explorer 6 with javascript disabled, so that very well may be the issue, but after testing it (using an internet shortcut to the url in firefox) I got the same issue, so figured I'd post here just in case.
P.S: I've also seen some of the error loading page message before after skill/luck tests, but they did nothing to inhibit the actual playing of the gamebook (everything proceeded as per normal below the message).
I had a look but can't reproduce it. Could you email me the URL, or post it here?
The SKILL/LUCK test issue is as you suspect not a problem, though it is untidy. I think you were probably seeing it in Below Zero Point, and it shouldn't happen again.

Addendum to previous post: If you choose one of the options that restarts the gamebook from that link, it appears that you end up as two characters at the same time (though your stats are from the newly selected one). Not sure if that's useful at all, but I figured I'd post it nevertheless.
Thanks very much. It's now fixed (hopefully there are no side-effects) and you should be able to carry on from where you left off.

It would be better if you conduct combat round-to-round, so that you could use Luck to influence the combat. The entire fight rolled out and I was dead before I knew it.

Hi Guys, I'm looking to complete the mini-quest set by the temple priest in Blackmaw (for the content of the glass case). He mentioned that the object of the quest is at Storm Petrel....but I've completed the Storm Petrel Island quest without finding the location or the object, and now I can't get back to that island. Any clues on that?
Thanks.

It's on Nen-Tai, i think

So....I've got the Sleeping Dragon, killed the Baron at Blackmaw, completed Hummingbird, solved the mystery at Storm Petrel, took out the bird cult at the Papayago, got the gold at Sapphire Atoll, released....something at Albatross, did the two short quests at Sempura, got the Trident at Nen-Tai. Is there any quests that I've missed so far? I know more will be added in time, but is there anything more my character can do at this point? I haven't found the Roc's egg, or the uses for the Statuette for Courga or the Conchshell, but have those quests been written yet?
Oh, and what does the Serpent's Heart Amulet do?
Thanks.

You got the Sleeping Dragon? :) I must confess I don't remember anything from my section, if I went and played it again I'd surely perish more than once.
